Featured Giveaway! : Speak For Yourself

Speak For Yourself Giveaway!

We are very excited to announce to our members that we have ONE code for the brilliant app Speak For Yourself  AAC valued at  $299.99 USD.  Speak For Yourself , LLC have reduced the price to $189.99 for the month of May for Better Speech and Hearing month. They are also having a giveaway on their Facebook page when they reach 1000 likes!

Speak for Yourself is an application designed by two speech language pathologists specializing in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) with an evidence-based foundation.

This application is consistent with motor learning principles, uses a word-based vocabulary of the most frequently used words in communication, and contains features important in developing automaticity and language. Individuals learn to use their communication device with the same principles they use to play an instrument or type on a keyboard.

Speak for Yourself has the capability to begin with one word, but contains almost 11,000 Smarty Symbols® and allows the user the potential to access over 13,000 words, with no more than two touches to say a word. Complex page navigation and scanning are eliminated to allow fast, consistent access to language! Powered by CereProc's speech system to give our voices character, emotion, and personality.

Regardless of their current language level, this application can meet people where they are and provide language for a lifetime, because it’s a basic human right to Speak for Yourself.

  1. Ooooh I'm dying for this app for my non-verbal son. I've tried to figure out a way to buy it this month while it's on sale, but with a daughter going to college in a few months it's just not possible. :( We have an iPad and I spent alot of money on another popular app (about a month before this one came out!)but it just isn't working for him. There is too much work to find what he wants to say. The idea of being able to find every word in two clicks is brilliant, as is having pronouns and common action verbs available on the main page. Ugh, I'm desperate to give this to my child~ everyone should have the ability to communicate! Love what I've learned about your product!

I have a nonverbal 13 year old. He does have an AAC app, but he still seems to struggle. What I love so much about this one in particular is how you can get to any word in two clicks. WOW!!! That is fantastic. And also the fact that you can hide words until they are learned and the most fantastic of all........THE WORDS NEVER MOVE.....EVER!!! That is exactly what his struggle is and it really frustrates him; so much so that he seems to just give up sometimes. And I can't blame him, honestly. This is really a wonderful app.

Thank you for the opportunity to win this!

  6. I work with several students who have limited verbal communication skills. I am also familiar with motor planning as a method for teaching communication, and this app seems to 'have it all' in that area. I am very excited to try this app with my students. It would be wonderful to see one of my students using this app functionally! Thank you so much for the giveaway!

  9. Hi! My daughter is 12 yrs old and is non-verbal. She is cognitively about 3-4 yrs. After seeing a few of Maya's videos, I think my daughter would be able to use this app to communicate with the world just like Maya is doing! I especially love the "babble" thing! lol Thanks for the chance!

  10. I have an 11 year old non verbal son with special needs. I would love this app for him. He is so easily frustrated when he is trying to convey what he needs. I would love to give him the freedom to ask what he wants without getting so frustrated. He can hum things, epecially music which he loves, but we have always wanted to know what is going on in that head of his, and with this tool it may be possible. Thanks for the opportunity to win!

  12. Speak for Yourself is a fantastic AAC app. I love the features - the words/symbols never move, two clicks to locate a word and the way the app can be customized for the individual. My son is 18 years old, non verbal, with severe autism and a learning disability. Speak for YOurself would give him a way to communicate his needs. Thank you iHelp SN Kids for this great giveaway, and Thank You to Speak for Yourself for their generosity in donating a code.

  14. I would love to win this for my non-verbal almost 5 year old. The other big communication app has just not worked for him and we'd love to try this out but can't swing it financially at the moment. He has a lot to say and we'd love to hear it all! Thank you!

  15. It would be absolutely incredible to win this app for my daughter! She is three and non-verbal. She has developmental delays, hypotonia and is suspected to have a rare genetic syndrome though we have not pinpointed it as of yet. Doctors have assured me that though she is delayed, she seems to be very cognitively aware. It would be so thrilling to see something like this unlock the door into her mind! We cannot afford this app anyway, but especially because I can't take the chance that she wouldn't respond to it properly. I just want to talk to my child and have her be able to answer!

  17. I've been in love with this app for my 4 year old daughter since I was introduced to it. I recently downloaded the 'lite' free version to she what she'd do with it and now she is always wanting to use it to ask for squeezing. (One of her favorite things and one of the few words available in the lite version) She laughs and laughs and well... I want it MORE now!!!!

  21. Okay I'm a little shock.. I downloaded the SFY Lite version of this app as I like how fast communication can happen.. This is something I have always dreamed about because communication should be fast without having to flip through many pages.. :-) My son who is non verbal really liked the app.. he kept going to the ipad to check out the program...the one thing that upset him was that the other icons wouldn't open for him in the free trial... I should let you know that my son does prefer his dedicated device over the ipad for communication so this was interesting to see... I would like to see a few more icons work in the lite version so that we could see what he would of done with the choices he was trying to make.. I am entering this giveaway not for my son, but for another young Teen who could really use this app.... wishing everyone good luck... :-)

  22. I am not sure why it won't let me comment through Facebook today- (I am Amy Vinson Taylor on FB)

I have this app and it is incredible! I want more people to have accesss to this app, and would love to donate this to a local lending library so more parents can try the full version out with their children- this library gives loaner devices for weeks at a time, which gives the child a chance to get used to a communication system beyond what a lite version could do. These kids deserve access to this program to see if SFY will be the right fit as their voice- Its "never have to relearn a word" approach makes so much sense for many AAC users. If for some reason the lending library I have in mind has acquired the full version already, I of course have a couple of local children in mind that I know this would be a good match for. Thank you for the opportunity!

  28. I have 2 1/2 year old twins that were born at 26 weeks. Both are speech delayed and having difficulty catching up. One twin's speech is at about the 12 month mark and the other is at about 18 months. Both boys show their frustration at their inability to communicate with us. We are teaching them some sign language, and it's helping, but I think a program like this is exactly what they need. I wish I had the ability to buy it for them, but I just don't right now.
