The who, what, where, and why parts of sentences are color coded to help students recognize and understand how combinations of these parts create basic sentence structure.

Rainbow sentences is a fun, easy to use app for teaching written sentence construction to children.

The words can be grouped together and colour coded to match with the correct sentence position, making learning sentence construction easier. The colour coding and word grouping can be turned off once the player improves. Players are rewarded for answering correctly at the end of each set with a puzzle piece. Once the level is complete the completed puzzle turns into a funny animation (both hubby and I had a good giggle). I really like how easy this app is to use. There are plenty of settings to make customising the app to suit different players very easy. The stats are easily viewed and can be emailed. There is the handy option of recording the player saying the sentence. Very helpful for practicing correct pronunciation. It's also nice that you can flick from one reward puzzle to the next to easily check progress. If I could change one thing it would be to add a little more 'magic' to it. When a sentence is correctly constructed there is a voice stating that the sentence is correct, then the sentence is repeated. That could be handy, but personally I think it's too long and not engaging for most kids. You can turn this option off but then there is no indication that the sentence is correct. I'd like to see something more exciting, like the illustration animating for a few seconds or a little applause. The illustrations are funny but some movement would be even funnier.  I'd love to see the kangaroo actually fall down that hill (I've seen a kangaroo stumble and it is pretty funny) or the crocodile row that canoe faster. As always an option for Aussie accents (and spelling) are more than welcome. Congratulations Mobile Education Store on a great app! I'll definitely be using this one with my littlies.
