For the week of the App & Prize Party we are trialing something new. We will have a Feature School!!

St Josephs Primary School situated in Alstonville, AUSTRALIA has 220 students enrolled plus 18 students in the ASPECT Satellite Classes (Autism-Specific Special School) which are on-site.
More than 10% of the students enrolled at St Josephs have IEPs (Individual Education Plans) and all 18 of the students in the ASPECT classes have an IEP as well. This is quite a high percentage of kids with Special Needs kids to be at one school.

iPads would help these Special Needs kids and the rest of the students at St Josephs with their curriculum and allow them to have a bit of educational fun at lunch time in the Library.

St Josephs is my (Lisa M) childrens school. They are two of the children on IEP's there and when my third child starts there next year, she too will be on an IEP. My 3 kids have Autism Spectrum Disorders.

We're Overwhelmed - Thank you

Today marks the day that we hit our first big milestone - 1000 FB Like's !! Thank you to everyone who shared our page in order to get more people to support us..... or was it the fact that we are now able to give away an iPad2 ??!!

We are all working extremely hard at iHelp SN Kids to organize our first ever App & Prize Party!!

This IS a group effort, but a super-special "shout out" goes to Nat who is well known to put in 110% (and I hope she doesn't know how to edit the blog because she'll delete this comment straight away and get up me because we are a team!!)

iHelp have been taken by surprise at the amount of developers and businesses who have agreed to support our page over the past fortnight. We have even had several instances where businesses and developers have actively seeked US out requesting to take part in our App & Prize Party to show their support for what we are doing!!

It has truly been overwhelming and humbling to say the least that so many of you believe in and support what we are doing for the Special Needs community world-wide!

We did not set out to have an App party - it didn't even cross our minds initially. We sent a heap of emails out to our favourite developers and businesses and in a day or two were inundated with positive responses and suddenly had all of these codes and offers of merchandise. We were taken aback by the amount of positive responses.

What was also nice about reading the responses was that a lot of those who were unable to donate anything took the time to send us words of encouragement - which was equally appreciated. It's what keeps us going!!

Finally, we take our hats off to ANYBODY who has organized an App party in the past...

and please be kind to us during the week starting 31st April because we are rookies who are trying our hardest to make this a huge success !!!

BAILEY - Feature Member 28/03/12

Bailey is our NEW FEATURE MEMBER !! He's 4 years old and has Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), Global Development Disorder (GDD), Motor Dyspraxia, a speech and communication delay and is awaiting assessment for Autism.

His mum is raising funds to buy him an iPad and case using the "My Cause" website to help with his Speech an communication, fine motor skills and to use for positive behaviour enforcement (he's known to have challenging behaviour!!).

Bailey has a hard time fitting in with his peers and his sensory issues affect his day-to-day life.

Best of all......he's a fellow Aussie :) Let's help him get an iPad!!

Ella - Feature Member - 14/03/12

NEW FEATURE MEMBER!!! This beautiful little girl is Ella and she is 4 yrs old. She was recently diagnosed with Dandy-Walker Variant Syndrome. Having this syndrome affects her speech & hearing, growth, fine and gross motor skills plus there is a possibility she is having seizures. Everybody that she meets falls in love with her spirit and caring personality (not just because she is cheek-pinching cute!!) Having an iPad will help her improve her fine motor skills, eye hand coordination, using repetitive educational apps will help her retain information, teach her new concepts such as size, numbers, colours and broaden her vocabulary.
